The Secret -Meditation and Transformation

There was a point in my life where I felt like, the promises of God were for everyone around me but not for me. I saw people prospering and enjoying the “good” life while I was struggling just to keep my head above water and not fall into the abyss of depression. I was doing everything I heard from church, being kind, reading my bible, paying tithes, etc. Yet the promises of the blessings being poured out shaken together were not manifesting ; my life, relationships and financial situation had not improved, and I just knew that I was missing something. There had to be something that I was not being told.


So when “The Secret ” came out , I thought to myself that this must be the missing link, so I like many others began to visualize, and meditate and recite affirmations over my life. I was determined to affirm a life, free from depression, fear and lack. I began to practice meditation, clearing my mind and focusing on nothing but my breathing. What I did not realize was that that I would soon learn the real secret to ” The Secret”, which is that I was opening doors for the enemy to enter my life through the new age movement and the occult (but that’s a story for another day).


Had I been as voracious in reading my bible, as I was in reading that book, I would have seen that for my life to be transformed it would require a renewing of my mind and not a clearing or emptying of my mind. While meditation teaches us to clear the mind, the bible teaches us the exact opposite.


Psalms 1: 2 -Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Philippians 4: 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.The danger of clearing your mind in meditation is that if you are not saturated with the word of God, you leave room for the enemy to creep in with evil thoughts. Much like the scripture in Matthew 12: 43-45 I had swept my house ( mind) clean via meditation, however I left it unoccupied, failing to fill it with the word of God in order to stop the enemy from taking up occupancy in my mind. Bringing with them thoughts of rejection, fear, lack, doubt, depression and despair. I want to encourage you my friends, if you are practicing meditation the worlds way to stop immediately. What is Key is to ask God to close those doors that were previously opened as a result of those meditations and begin to meditate on the word of God. You may be required to fast in addition to your prayers. In you meditation remind God of his word, of his promises of provision and protection, for we know that he will perform according to his word. Our God wants us to life our best life, he came to give us life to the full. Let’s be diligent in our study of his word so that we will not conform to this present world, but rather be transformed by the renewing of our mind.
