Improve Your Life- Hire A Life Coach
The concept of Life Coaching has been around for some time, for ages men and women have been partnering with others to draw out the skills, talents and abilities God has placed within each one of us.
When you think of a coach in the traditional sense, you think of that guy who is training and conditioning the athletes, whipping them into shape as it were. Seemingly pushing them beyond their limits to make sure they are in the best physical and mental shape possible. Or you may visualize that coach in the locker room who has run the scenarios for all the plays, its half time and the team is down-the players are discouraged but the coach is giving that pep talk, encouraging the team to dig down deep within themselves to pull out the win. Perhaps your vision of a coach is that person on the court or in the ring who is whispering in your ear, reminding you of who you are and what you are capable of. If you ascribe to any of these interpretations, you are correct. A life skills coach is that and so much more.
A coach has been defined as a person who trains or directs, someone who gives instructions or prepares. The dictionary gives the following meaning to a life coach: an advisor who helps people make decisions, set and reach goals, or deal with problems. Coaching at its core is about partnering with another to help them go from where they are to where they need to be.
In the book of Esther as she embarked in her quest to become queen, she received coaching and advise from Hegai which eventually led her to the throne. Jesus himself in human form became a coach; among many titles to his disciples. Showing Simon that inside of him was “Petros”, Peter a rock and his mission or purpose was to be the foundation of what is now the modern-day church. While these are just two examples of the power of life-coaching, history is replete with stories that mirror what we now recognize as being a coach/client relationship. The needs of a coach today are as necessary today as they were yesteryear, and there are some clear signs that may signal your need for a Life Coach and how you can benefit from working with one.
One of the greatest indicators that you could benefit from the health of a life coach is that you feel stuck. You know that there is something you should be doing; you may even have a revelation of what that is. You may have gotten a glimpse of the vision and have made some progress towards the goal or the vision but your progress has come to a standstill.
Identify Your Strengths
A good life coach will use certain tools and resources in their arsenal that can unveil your strengths and passions. Part of leading a successful and fulfilling life is in identifying your strengths, gifts and abilities. As you identify your gifting and passions, you can continue to learn, and hone your skills to the point of mastery. In doing so you empower yourself to operate in the fullness of those strengths and can share with the world the gift that was imparted to you.
Find Your Life Purpose
I have met many people on my journey who have expressed a knowledge that they are here for a greater purpose, yet they express frustration because they feel as though they don’t know what that purpose is. A clue to your purpose is in your passions, gifts and strengths. Sometimes it takes that coach who is outside looking in, knowing that there is something in you that you were called to do, and can give you some insight and objectivity and draw out that which is hidden within you.
A Coach is someone trained and devoted to guiding others into increased competence, commitment, and confidence -Frederic Hudson, author of Handbook Coaching
Execution is vital for each one of us. Newtons First law of Motion states that a body in motion tends to stay in motion, while a body at rest tends to stay at rest… Paramount to the success of any endeavor is having a vision and a map. Much like the play book we spoke of earlier, having a detailed plan allows you to take strategic action steps to achieve stated goals. Having a coach assists you with setting realistic goals and allows you to have that accountability partner that encourages you to crush all the plays in your play book.
It has been said that we are spiritual beings having an earthly experience. I believe this whole heartedly. Reconnecting spiritually to our source is tantamount to living a purposeful, balanced life filled with meaning. When we are aligned with Christ, we begin to understand that we are divine creatures, created in the image of God, endowed with a mission and a gift which we must impart to the world. Having a coach helps you to see yourself as God sees you and gives you the insight you need to increase your confidence and self-esteem by knowing who you are in Christ.
This is not an exhaustive list of the benefits of hiring a life coach. There is also no one group that can benefit more than another. If you are a stay at home mom, a business woman, an athlete, entrepreneur or a student, a life coach can add value to your life.
